SHIPIT by Dzhura · Getting started

Your first hour with SHIPIT

About 15 minutes · describes SHIPIT as of October 2026 · dzhura.app/shipit/guide
Terms of Use · Privacy Policy · Agent Risk & Acceptable Use · First-run guide

SHIPIT runs AI coding agents on your Mac and gives them what they need: Git, GitHub, a project folder with house rules, and a one-click deploy. Follow the steps in order. Steps 1–5 are the setup window SHIPIT opens on first launch; you can run it again from Settings › Appearance.

You are in charge of your agents

You use SHIPIT and the agents it runs at your own risk, to the extent the law allows. Agents act on your Mac, as you, with your accounts.

SHIPIT does not take your code or files. Your work stays on this Mac and goes only to the services you connect. What reaches us is listed in What leaves your Mac and in the Privacy Policy. The details are in Agent Risk & Acceptable Use.

Setup · Start

01Pick what you will use

Agent hands a task to an agent and lets it work. Code is projects and terminals, where agents write code with you. Chat is plain conversation. Pick one or more. Tabs you leave out stay hidden until you turn them on in Settings › Appearance.

Setup · Tools

02Install Git and sign in to GitHub

Click Install developer tools. macOS shows its own window: choose Install and wait a few minutes. SHIPIT ticks the row when it is done.

Click Set up GitHub. SHIPIT downloads the GitHub tool and shows a short code. Click Copy code and open GitHub, paste the code in the browser and approve.

Click Use GitHub account so your commits carry your GitHub name. SHIPIT uses GitHub's private no-reply email, so your real address is not published.

Why this matters

Git saves every version of your project, so a change an agent makes can be undone. GitHub keeps a private copy online, so you can push and pull from any Mac. SHIPIT installs both into your user account: no Homebrew, no admin password.

If it gets stuck

No macOS window? Click Install developer tools again, or Stop waiting and retry later. Browser sign-in not working? Use Do it in Terminal. Only chatting? Skip this step; it waits in Settings › Agents & AI.

Setup · Agents

03Install an agent and sign in

SHIPIT runs the agent command-line tools on your Mac. One is enough to start. Install Claude Code or Codex from the list. A terminal pane opens; sign in there with your Claude or ChatGPT account.

You pay the agent's company directly, through your own plan. SHIPIT never sees your password or your plan. More agents are in Settings › Agents & AI.

Setup · Privacy

04Folder access and crash reports

Full Disk Access: click Open Settings and turn on SHIPIT. macOS then stops asking about every folder an agent opens. If macOS reopens SHIPIT, setup continues where you left off.

Send crash and error reports is off unless you turn it on. If you do, SHIPIT sends only errors that happen from then on; errors recorded before stay on this Mac. A report carries the error message and stack trace, app version and build, macOS version, Mac model and a random install ID. File paths, emails and common key formats are stripped first. You can change this any time in Settings › Behavior.

Setup · Privacy

05Choose how agents work, accept the Terms

Under How should agents work? the choice is already set to Ask before acting (Recommended): agents ask before they edit files or run commands, where the agent can. If you pick Full access, SHIPIT asks you to confirm with Turn on Full access; Cancel keeps Ask before acting. You can change it later in Settings › Agents & AI; agents already running keep their current mode.

Read the note about responsibility, then tick I agree to the Terms of Use; I've read the Privacy Policy. It includes Agent Risk & Acceptable Use. The I understand, continue button works once the box is ticked.

Setup · First step

06Start a task, a project or a chat

The last setup step starts the tab you picked. In Agent, choose a working folder and a task, then Start task. In Code, pick a folder; SHIPIT opens it with an agent already running in the terminal. In Chat, Start chat opens one conversation; type @ to bring a project into it.

Code · Projects “+”

07Create your first project

In Code, click + next to PROJECTS. Type a name, keep the switches on, click Create.

You get a folder, a Git repository, agent instructions (CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md), a private GitHub repository with the first push done, and a terminal in the folder. Already have a project? Use Add Existing Folder… in the same window.

What are CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md?

House rules that agents read before every task: how to run the project, what to check before saying “done”, what to ask you first, never to commit secrets. Edit them in plain words. The more they say about your project, the better the agents work.

Code · terminal

08Give an agent its first task

In the project's terminal, type claude or codex and press Return. Then say what you want, as you would to a colleague: “Make a one-page site for my bakery with opening hours and a map link.”

The agent shows what it plans and what it changes. Answer its questions and approve only what you understand. When it is done, open the result and check it yourself.

Undo what an agent did

Ask the agent: “Undo your last change.” If the change was committed, Git has the earlier version, and the agent can bring it back.

Code · project menu

09Put it online in one click

Open the project's menu and choose Deploy to Vercel…. The first time, click Connect Vercel and sign in. Then click Deploy. When it is live, SHIPIT shows the address with Copy and Open. Next time the button says Redeploy.

If the deploy fails

Click Fix with agent. SHIPIT hands the error to your agent in the project's terminal. When it is fixed, deploy again. If SHIPIT says Node.js is needed, follow its button, then try again.

Preview or production?

With Production on, the deploy replaces your public site. Turn it off to get a separate preview address you can check first.

Updates

SHIPIT checks for updates about once an hour. Settings › About has Check for updates automatically. Each check sends the app version and your IP address to the update server. Turn it off to check only when you choose Check for Updates…. Updates are verified with a signature before they install.

Already using SHIPIT?

You will see a banner at the top of the window: SHIPIT now has Terms of Use, a Privacy Policy and Agent Risk & Acceptable Use. Nothing changes in how SHIPIT works, and nothing waits on the banner. Review opens the Terms of Use, I accept records your acceptance, Later hides it until the next launch.

Installs from before version 1.0 were kept on Full access. SHIPIT tells you so and offers Keep Full access or Switch to Ask before acting.

What leaves your Mac

Your code, files, prompts and chats stay on this Mac. They go only to the services you connect, under your own accounts. SHIPIT itself receives none of your work.

Questions people ask

What does it cost to use?

Agent usage counts against your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Private GitHub repositories are free. Vercel has a free plan for personal projects; check Vercel's pricing for commercial sites. The Dzhura subscription and refunds are described in the Terms of Use.

Can I work without GitHub?

Yes. Turn off Create GitHub repository in the New Project window. Git still keeps your history on this Mac.

Is an agent allowed to do anything?

In Ask before acting, agents SHIPIT starts stop for your approval before commands and, for most agents, before file edits. In Full access they work without asking and outside a sandbox: they run commands as you. An agent you start yourself by typing claude or codex in a terminal follows its own settings. Either way, review its work before you publish.
